You aren't alone. I was the same when I started - but there are only 2 reasons that changed my mind.

1. I want to buy a home out of emotion of living in "my home" and making memories with my family. Celebrating Diwali, Christmas, my son's first walk, his first day of school.

2. Because I want to retire in Canada mortgage & rent-free, because I want my expenses to be as little as possible when I am not making any active income at Age 60+

Numbers wise, buying would only make sense over renting after 10 years of home ownership ;-)
